About the Business
I started to practise yoga in 2008, when I decided that I would book into a class out of curiosity. I had never been a gym bunny and the only time I ran was if a ball was coming towards me during PE at school.
That class changed my whole view of what exercise can be. I had always understood that keeping fit was about competitiveness and fast paced actions. I found that through careful breath awareness and purposeful movement I could build strength, flexibility, body awareness and stamina. The most remarkable change was that, over time, my asthma inhaler became redundant. The yearly doses of steroids when Winter colds invariably moved to my chest were no more.
I became aware that, after attending a class, I felt a sense of calm. I realised that the only thing I had thought about for the last hour was my breath and movement. I began to understand why yoga is sometimes described as a moving meditation.
I have never looked back from that first class and I trained as a yoga teacher so I can share the gift of yoga with anyone else who is curious.
