About the Business
I remember my first yoga class well. It was over 12 years ago in a large, cold school PE hall. There were lots of people and I found my way to the back, far out of sight of the teacher. My Mum had pushed me to go, saying that I'd appreciate it in the end. And I did. After that first session I was hooked!
A few months previously I'd been involved in a terrible accident, being knocked over as a pedestrian by a bus in Vancouver, Canada. I'd always led an active life, I'd been a runner for many years. But the accident left me with damage to my spine and in chronic pain. A far-sighted GP recommended yoga and, with an inspiring osteopath, I began to rebuild my health.
I continued with the yoga classes and the teacher, who later accepted me on his British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) teacher training course in 2004. I taught large and small group classes, Mother and baby classes and some individual yoga in Shambhala yoga studio, Leigh-on-Sea and other community halls in Essex until we moved to Horsham in 2009.
