About the Business
At university I began practicing at a weekly lunchtime yoga classes, then continued attending classes as I moved around the country until settling in North Yorkshire in 1983. Over the years I have worked in a variety of styles, including British Wheel, Iyengar and Ashtanga, and benefited from teachers such as Philip Xerri, Muz Murray, Donna Farhi, Mukunda Stiles Swami Vedantananda, and Swami Satyaprakash.
After working with Swami Pragyamurti in early 1996 I was motivated to fulfil a long held dream of staying at an Indian yoga ashram. From late 1996 - 2001 most of my time was spent at Bihar School of Yoga, India or travelling within the subcontinent. At the ashram I both studied yoga and imbibed the ancient traditions. It was truly a time of "living yoga". The daily ashram routine involved karma, bhakti, raja, hatha and aspects of gyana yoga.
Other highlights from this time include visiting ashrams in many parts of India and attending the 2001 Maha Kumbha Mela at Allahbad.
